Documentary film about Eleftherios Venizelos in Lausanne

Projection of a documentary film on the historical events of the decade 1912-1922 and the strategic choices of Elefthérios Venizélos, Greek politician and negotiator of the Treaty of Lausanne.
During a turbulent decade (1912-1922), as Europe’s geopolitical scene changed dramatically, Eleftherios Venizelos, a Greek politician considered the “founder of modern Greece”. He emerges victorious from the Treaty of Sèvres and successfully deploys his strategy to protect the Greek populations of Asia Minor, but the Greek people withdraw their confidence and ostracize him. After the destruction of the Greek communities in Asia Minor in 1922, he was again called upon by Greece as the most suitable to negotiate the terms of peace in Lausanne. The film sheds light on the journey of a charismatic politician who dared to make difficult decisions whose repercussions are felt to this day.
